The Grass and the Osier

Binding into bunches

Apart from stone piles, snowmen, and other things which emerged out of my child's play, my first steps in reshaping and consciously expressing myself in nature – in situ – were elementary attempts of archaic binding of material into bunches. I expressed myself in dried-up autumn grass and even more markedly in a luscious osier. We would cut its twigs every autumn to weave them into baskets. This time, I bound them into individual bunches first.

It was a beginning, the first step, which was followed by others.
